Fraser Ross, the owner of the popular celebrity shopping spot Kitson, has invested in a new paparazzi agency called Sunset Photo and News LLC - a move that many are considering hypocritical after after Ross publicly lambasted photogs who regularly camp outside his upscale boutique, saying, "It's not good for my store, it's not good for business on the street." Ross has apparently had a change of mind, and his attorney says his client is taking advantage of a good business opportunity by becoming a "passive investor" in the new agency. There has been much speculation that some store owners actually tip off paparazzi when celebs are browsing their wares in the hopes of snagging some free publicity, according to a Beverlyl Hills lawyer who represents Lindsay Lohan, Halle Berry and Reese Witherspoon. "It is outrageous, but not unexpected," he says. Ross's store reportedly generates revenues of around $18 million per year.
